On October 14, in Rimini, Lucia Magnani brought a clear idea to the stage of InOut: longevity can become a way of doing hospitality.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lucia Magnani Health Clinic in Castrocaro Terme, she spoke at the panel “Longevity Hospitality: science, innovation and new models of hospitality” to present the Long Life Formula® Method, created over 15 years ago.
It all starts from her career in the healthcare world and her passion for biochemistry. Oxidative stress, a low-grade latent inflammation, is for Lucia Magnani not a disease to be treated but an imbalance: it can favor the onset of illness, make it harder to overcome, and, when present, accelerates aging. This led to the idea of a program built on highly sophisticated analyses. The analyses alone were not enough, so the program added a medical check-up, designed for healthy people who wish to stay that way, a space dedicated to Well-Being and relaxation, because the mind is the first element to consider, and then food and movement. Proper nutrition, she explained, is in every respect a medicine. “The same principle applies to movement, because physical activity is a medicine too.”
The strength of the method is time.
From the very first guests, 15 or 16 years ago, the clinic wanted to understand what happens after the program. Follow-up checks take place at 20 days, three months, six months, one year and one and a half years, and show how much of the method remains in everyday life. The team observes sleep, digestion, mental activity, energy levels, weight and the perception of Well-Being. Where needed, tests are repeated: has cholesterol dropped? Has cortisol returned to normal values? Oxidative stress analyses are carried out in the center’s own laboratories, all other tests at any healthcare facility.
The data are collected by physicians, in direct conversation with guests: a medical activity in every respect. This work has produced a significant case series, the subject of a scientific publication in preparation.
Seven speakers, seven pillars of longevity hospitality.
The session was moderated by Roberta Farinola, founder of Welligence Think Lab and General Manager of FARO Comunicazione. “The value of this panel lies in having brought together different skills, all necessary to build an integrated project. I am proud that Welligence has helped bring into dialogue sectors that once moved separately: health, wellness and hospitality now find common ground on which to engage and collaborate,” she said.
Joining Lucia Magnani were Giulio Contini, General Manager of the Scuola Italiana di Ospitalità; Manon Khazrai, Associate Professor of Dietetic Sciences and Techniques at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma; Vincenzo Primitivo, physician, Scientific Director of Wellspring The Health Club and head of scientific research at Starpool; Sara Quercia, nutritional biologist and expert in the gut microbiota; Alessandra Scatà, SPA Manager at Lefay Resorts & Residences; and Régis Boudon-Doris, Senior Vice President Creative Development at bbspa_Group.
“Our goal is to keep people healthy for as long as possible,” concluded Lucia Magnani.
