The skin is one of the most important and the second largest organ of the human body.
Except for normal skin, all other skin types require special care and targeted treatments. For this reason, it is very important to be well aware of one’s SKIN CONDITION – it is indeed more accurate to talk about evolving skin conditions rather than constant skin types, since the appearance of our skin changes according to the current season, the level of stress we’re experiencing, the environment surrounding us as well as our hormonal levels, etc.
SKIN CONDITION
Dry skin
Dry skin is the result of an imbalance in the levels of moisture and oily substances. It lacks the protective layer of sebum and its barrier function is compromised, resulting in increased water loss and inadequate storage of the remaining fluids. As a consequence, the skin looks flaky and reddened and itches. If you have a dry skin, choose products containing aloe vera, hyaluronic acid and vegetable oils..
Combination skin
Combination skin consists of three skin types – normal, dry and oily skin – at the same time. So you will have a very oily t-zone (forehead, nose and chin), which will tend to be shinier and more blemished, while the eye area and the cheeks will have the characteristic traits of normal or dry skin.
Oily skin
There are two types of oily skin. The first one is characterised by a shiny and “greasy” appearance, with enlarged pores, blackheads and pimples; in this case, an alteration in hormonal activity leads to an increased production of sebum. The second type of oily skin is marked by a glossy look and enlarged pores, but also by dryness, skin flaking and a lack of hydration; this appearance is closely linked to the hormonal levels.
Sensitive skin
This kind of skin is extremely fragile and easily irritated. It is particularly prone to the formation of wrinkles and is very vulnerable to external factors. It often appears reddened and flaky.
Sensitive skin requires very delicate products. Avoid aggressive and irritating cosmetics and opt for nickel-free ones.
