How to Fight Anxiety and Fear and Find Your Inner Balance

In this time of uncertainty, we can easily get sucked into a spiral of negative thoughts and fears.
The fatigue, loss of control and sense of emptiness pervading us can greatly affect our inner balance and produce stress and anxiety, which are threats to our immune system, especially if they persist for several days or weeks.

This is why the Lucia Magnani Health Clinic also includes holistic disciplines such as meditation and yoga in thermal water, which, if combined with a healthy diet, promote a state of physical and psychological well-being.

What can do to handle our thoughts and emotions, which are taking over in this time of great instability for everyone?

Besides maintaining a balanced routine and devoting some time to physical activity, we recommend incorporating meditation into your daily routine.

Those who have approached meditation with consistency and motivation have probably already discovered its beneficial effects on their mental and emotional balance. These benefits have been scientifically demonstrated through targeted research, aimed at investigating the effects of this practice on our brain as well as our ability to manage pain and stress.

The positive effects of meditation could be summarised in the following way:

  1. Natural treatment of anxiety and depression
  2. Strengthened immune system
  3. Reduced physical pain
  4. Improved memory and concentration
  5. Increased physical and psychological well-being

Below you will find two simple exercises you can do for at least 15 minutes at the beginning or the end of the day.

Free your mind

While keeping your eyes half open, focus on your breathing without trying to control it – just concentrate on the air you are inhaling and exhaling.

Whatever kind of thought crosses your mind, don’t fight it and simply let it pass by.

If you keep concentrating on your breathing, all of your thoughts will soon fade away and you will be pervaded by a sense of calm, peacefulness and tranquillity.

Count down to zero

This extremely easy technique is very effective in enhancing your concentration.

While keeping your eyes closed and lying back in a relaxed position, count down to zero starting from a high number (at least one hundred).

This exercise is all about focusing on a specific activity and letting all external stimuli disappear.

For this reason, it is important that you turn off all of your electronic devices, choose a quiet place and find a comfortable position.
